NOTE: *A lot of these examples are pictures from the Guitar and Keyboard Slide Rule, but these HELP pages and examples relates to all the Slide Rules for all instruments not just the Guitar and Keyboard slide rule

The example below shows the notes for the F Major Scale

(The Blue numbers are the F Major Scale)

Diagram 1 above and 2 below are also showing the notes for the F Major Scale for the keyboard too

To set any Slide Rule to the Key you want, just slide the Slide Rule so that the Number 1 is over the Key you want

Number 1 is over the Key of F

So here the Slide Rule is now set to the key of F

The Slide Rule only shows the numbers 1 - 7 But remember when making chords (Known as harmonising the Scale)

2 can = 9  and the number  4 can = 11

and the number 6 can = 13 See and compare the chord examples with Diagram 3 below

CHORD Structure examples

Chords are made up from notes of the Major Scale

C Major = 1-3-5 (C-E-G)

C 7 = 1-3-5-b7  (C-E-G-Bb)

C Major 7 = 1-3-5-7  (C-E-G-B)

C 9 = 1-3-5-b7-9  (C-E-G-Bb-D)        (2=9)

C Sus 4 = 1-4-5  (C-F-G)

C Sus 2 = 1-2-5  (C-D-G)

C add 9 = 1-3-5-9  (C-D-G-D)           (2=9)

C 11 = 1-3-5-b7-9-11  (C-E-G-Bb-D-F)  (2=9  4=11)

C 13 = 1-3-5-b7-9-11-13  (C-E-G-Bb-D-F-A) (2=9  4=11 6=13)

The Musical Educator Slide Rules are a very powerful tool for finding scales, modes, chords, chord inversion and harmony and also for enabling solo development in any Key

In DIAGRAM 1b the Blue notes on the Guitar and Keyboard Slide Rule show the F Major Scale all across the neck of the guitar

The blue numbers shown on the Slide Rules show the notes of the major scale across the guitar neck, for Example - in the key of C

To set the Key for any Slide Rule place the Blue Number 1 over the Key you want over the Keyboard
